Last year I cut up sprouted potatoes and tossed them in soil and they did fine. The plants are large, though, so be prepared for 1 plant /sq ft or less.
You should be able to use them just fine.
The only caveat is that if the potatoes come from an area with blight, they could transmit it to your soil. Also, I have read that re-using seed stock for a few years can leave you with less hardy/producti...
Hi Jess, I live in London, ON - I just joined this group too. I have been gardening since I was a child. I've had a garden plot in Thames Park near Labatt's. The few friends I have who are serious gardeners are a great resource. I have several great books on permaculture and I belong to Seeds of Diversity Canada. I enjoy seed swapping vs. buying - because there tends to be more than we can ever grow each year and I save seeds too. There are pockets of funky people in London, they're just hard to find.
