The Barnyard

We admit to having way too many lilies...if that is possible. We just love them and tuck them in everywhere. Most days until fall we can go and pick a lily bouquet...heaven!
It is probably overkill to grow 20 or more varieties of tomatoes but we are always searching for that next best one! And we love squash even if it is a major challenge to grow here. Row covers are the only answer. We love trying new kinds. Got a 30# warty blue squash at a farmers market so hope the seeds we saved come true....found something similar at Baker Creek so will plant both....
We also grow, probably 30 different annual flowers plus the perennials. Flowers are tucked in every box and bed. With a greenhouse we can try anything once! DEE

Hostas! They grow so well in my yard all I have to do is put them in the ground with a little mulch, and they sure are lovely.

I don't think you can ever have too many tomatoes. =)

Our luxury is roses - we've got over three dozen. In our defense, we live in "the Rose city" (Pasadena) and they grow like weeds here. I don't fertilize them (save for compost when I have extra) and I only need to water them a little bit during the summer. I just deadhead and prune them and they do beautifully. I am experimenting with growing strawberries underneath them so the space is not "wasted" from a food standpoint.
